1936 McCormick-Deering 10-20 Value?

My neighbour has a McCormick-Deering 10-20 sitting next to our boundary fence. He put it there as a garden ornament. Sheetmetal work is terrible, it has an Oliver main fuel tank on it, petrol tank rusted through, missing hood assembly and wheel lugs are worn. The motor can be turned with difficulty. Is this tractor worth anything more than a monument to rust? Pictures below.
Serial number is KC 212373.

Sad, If someone wanted to save it could be done. Even as a rust ornament there are a lot of good parts there! oldiron29

Ya mean like this one? I truly hate yard art. So many things have
rotted or rusted away and are lost. See if he will let you squirt some
ATF into the cylinders. Hope you can save it. There are still parts
laying around out there.

After my experience with buying my "H", don't give much. It takes a lot to get them restored-if he ever sells to you......I know nothing about tractor values...except for my own; $200 - $300 would be a plenty....my opinion.

looks like 1932. one benefit is the exhaust is down and that has saved a lot of these tractors. but should have the cyl's lubed anyhow. not worth much , only scrap price. many times on auction sales have saw them sell for 50.00 - 200.00 like that. the 10-20 was also on of ih's most produced tractors in that time period with over 200,000 made. i have a nice 1939 model on factory rubber with one original rear tire yet but its getting pretty rotten . has the upgrades also like f4 mag. oil filter, steering wheel. even the fuel tank was different on the later ones.

A lot of older tractor collections are being liquidated. You should be able to find a restored 10-20 for 1/4 to 1/8 the cost to fix that one up. Your neighbor has the right idea.

Look for a fence row IH 560 or JD 4010. You should be able to fix one of those up for only 2 or 3 times the restored value, LOL.

To add a note to this. My dad said that during WWII these were still to valuable of a machine. By the Korean war they started junking them like crazy except for one problem. That huge cast iron frame . They took way too much acetylene and oxygen to cut up. So even into the early 60s you could still find that huge casting in a fence row here and there.

Cost to restore is not the issue. If you want the challenge of restoring a 10-20, that is the question to answer!
Your labor will be worth about 25 cents per hour but the thrill of getting it running will be priceless!

(quoted from post at 12:07:38 04/16/17) . . . Your labor will be worth about 25 cents per hour . . .
No, your labor will have negative value. The more time you spend on it, the more money you will sink into it that you will never see again.

ss55 is right.

In the right hands, it could be fixed back up. But probly not worth much more than scrap price. Hope it don't go
for scrap. The wheels are probly worth scrap price of entire tractor to the right person.
