450 Finally on the farm

Almost a year ago I bought my gas 450. I got it for a nice price and it came with lots of implements and hoped to have it in the field soon.
Well that didn't happen. I have a coworker who has an auto shop as a side job who said "i know all about tractors". Turns out he knows all about tractors by driving past them on the hwy. And everytime I go in his shop he's looking on youtube for how to fix something.

So I took it to a guy who does decent work and I could afford. But he by no means was a tractor guy.

This is where you fine folks come in. I was struggling to get much done and turned to this site. You guys gave me lots of advice, guidance, sent me emails, explained things so I could understand (mostly), and provided pics of your equipment. With your help, and Mark's tools and limited skills on heavy equipment we gave my tractor the ultimate tune-up.

You guys helped me install/replace belts, hoses, starter, get thru a head rebuild, new brakes (they work like a charm), carb tune-up, then rebuild then adjustment, replace front tires, many electrical issues, points, condenser, rotor, plugs and wires, new exhaust, starter switch, gauges, removing and cleaning the fuel tank and oil pan and probably things I cant recall.

I finally got transportation set up to move Charlene to my Dad's farm Sunday. My only regret is Dad isn't here to see it, but I know he'd be proud of her. I parked her beside the house until I can get her in the field, probably after tax season.

Again, you guys are the best, you've helped me countless times, and I know I can depend on you when I need help.

Thanks,
Ernest

Roger, I wish i could park her in a barn now, but dont have one available. My brother started a polebarn, but its not finished. I dont think she'll fit in the stalls in the cow barn. I'll try and make time to finish the pole barn.
I remember as a kid we put a bread sack over the mag on our JD. I thought about doing the same on the distributor until i can get it inside. Probably put a 5 gallon can over the stack; it has a flap but i know its not waterproof.

Well, I'm sure sorry to hear you've lost your dad......but maybe you can believe he can see the 450 and know how much you apparently
cherish it as you obviously and rightfully did him. Why don't you get a decent tarp that will cover the tractor adequately until you can finally
provide a garage or shed for it. I kinda lucked out and found a 24 ft long truck van body which I mounted on 4 new treated railroad ties and I
can run both of my John Deere G's into using my trailer ramps They're snug as bugs in a rug in there. I paid a grand for the body and 50
bucks for the ties. I positioned and leveled the ties myself, the neighbor friend who sold me the body hauled and positioned it for me in the
deal. (Never intended to be permanent, but they've been sheltered in there for 9 years now). The tires show no aging, tha paint hasn't faded or chipped so there's no rust. They "sweat" a little sometimes but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. If I have to work on one of them, my car gives up the garage for a few hours....or a few days. I've got a lot of other farm antiques kept over at my brother's big tool shed. But my tractors are
here in my backyard in their shelter. They aren't "Charlene's" though, they are " Viejo Juan" (the one from California) and "Old Johnny" (the one
from North Dakota). Nahhhh, I just made that up.........
