So the other day I went and looked at a 460 and adjusted the clutch/TA as per the book. But we could not run it due to a hyd hose leak. So the guy calls me yesterday and told me about being hard o get out f gear and also has a hyd wine unless you play with the controls. So do I need to do more adjustments to the TA and as for th hyd pump wine is there something wrong with the controls that they do not come to home position like they should.
Thanks

The book does not account for wear on the linkages. You have to start with the book adjustment and then adjust it until it works.

In the meantime your customer can simply pull the TA lever to shift. If he keeps jamming on the gear lever he is going to break something.

The hydraulic lever mechanims and linkages can be stuck with caked on grease and dirt. If it will go off high pressure by fiddling with the levers, that's probably the issue.

The process (as I do it): Set the clutch free play at 1 inch down from all the way up measured at the platform to cast contact in the pedal arm. this can be felt by hand. In an open area with nothing to run into, use low gear, and measure the point that letting up on the pedal causes the tractor to begin to move. this is the engagement point of the master clutch. The TA linkage is now adjusted so it begins to be released at this position of the foot pedal(going downward on the clutch). further depressing the pedal releases the TA clutch fully. (usually another 3/4" or so to an inch of foot travel. This assures that the TA clutch is fully engaged when the master clutch applies power through it. It also assures that the full pedal depression releases the TA clutch so shifting is not bound up. The lever should apply and fully release the TA clutch very near the center of its travel. Doing this compensates for linkage wear and I have had no issues doing it this way. Jim

No matter what I tried with the hyds it will not stay unloaded. It will unload for a moment then load back up. This is with the loader hooked up or with out it hooked up. The adjustment that sets it for single or double acting dose nothing either.

As for the TA and getting it out of gear I have it so it is now pretty easy to pull out of gear

Old sounds like the safety vent orfice in flow control valve is plugged on your hydraulics. As to your other problem when you adjusted linkages check to see if clutch rod is not bending as I had that problem on my 460,my fix was to cut and lenghten a farmall M clutch rod.Scott
