Super C hydraulic problem

After sitting for several years I got this tractor running. Before storage the hydraulics were in working order. Long story short, the hydraulic pump pumps fluid into the crankcase. I've put a kit in the pump as the original seal was shot. No help still pumps into the crankcase. The gear shaft has a dark coloration in the area that contacts the seal, but I cannot feel a groove or wear line. I don't have a dial calipers to measure a difference in diameter of the shaft. Also the spring and ball for the pressure relief is missing and I have not replaced. Any help is much appreciated.

If the system is "dead-headed" meaning the oil can't return freely to the reservoir if a cylinder is not moving, then the pressure has to go somewhere. Usually the relief valve handles that.

Your hydraulic system could very well have an internal blockage, and the relief valve is not working, so it is blowing the seals in the pump because that is the weakest point in the system.

After replacing the seal and starting the tractor up, did it grunt and groan, make any strange noises, before "straightening out?"

If there is a groove worn in the shaft and you have a seal-type (not o-ring) pump, you can get a speedi-sleeve to repair the shaft and get a good seal.

I would guess your system is staying on high pressure which would cause heating of hydraulics and eventually blowing the pump seal. Also, you should have the check valve in place if it is the one in the pump you are talking about.

Now, onto the speedy sleeve. They are a great invention but I often wonder how someone can recommend putting one on a shaft that has to fit through a very close fitting bushing like in that pump. It would require sizing the bushing to accept the speedy sleeve.

Thanks for the advice. My tractor has the Pesco pump with a seal, not an o-ring. The last time I tried the pump, with a newly installed seal, the engine did not lug down. It did in an earlier try. The last time I tried it I did see slight movement in the rocker arms when I was working the touch-control arms per the air purge procedure. The shaft has dark area at the location of the seal, but I cannot see or feel any grove or wear in the shaft. I did replace the filter as the old filter had a tear. Seems there must be blockage in the hydraulic block. I have little desire to tear into that, but things are pointing to that as the problem.

Thanks again for the help and if there are any other suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

Thanks. Any idea where I can get the spring, ball, and cap screw for this Pesco pump? The port is capped with a 1/8" pipe plug. Would these items not being in the pump cause the issues?

Thanks

i replaced seal several times on two pumps..still did it..finally put in those flat washers in side the pump two thick ones an two thin
ones with new shaft seal and they stopped leaking into to crank case..i or some one else got that v 8 lookin thing in there off set to
the shaft ...lined it up right... centered on the shaft....before it made my shaft look off centered in the seal.no wonder it
leaked........dewy
