Farmall C Front Wheel Thumping

Hi All,

I am in the process of restoring a 1948 Farmall C. While I was driving it, there is a thumping sound coming from the front wheels. I am not sure what is causing the sound, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help,
Sam

There is probably a loose rim clamp. If they all seem tight, Put finger nail polish on the bolt/rim/hub/loop where they join. Let
it dry a few minutes (20 minutes if cold) then drive it a few yards and take a look. Sometimes the bolts seem tight but have
"stuck" in place. If it is a narrow front (two wheels) drive one up on a couple of 2X4s then loosen the bolts and either replace
or chase the threads to make it tight. Jim

I agree completely. To those of us who grew up on the Farmalls, that "thump" is unmistakeable.

Hi All,

Thank you for the advice. I tightened the front wheel retainers, and that fixed the "thump".

Thanks Again,

Sam
