Just a quick rundown of what is going on with my 1066 IHC.

We put in a rebuilt injection pump and couldn't get the tractor running. We ended up taking the valve cover off to check timing. Found a bent rocker arm and mushroomed pushrod both on one cylinder.

When pulling out the other pushrods to check them out, something went wrong with one of the rods. It seems like something fell over inside the engine. We are not able to stick it back down as it should be.

Any thoughts what happened down there and can it be fixed without yanking the head?

Thanks

On a 1066 the lifters are not a mushroom
head type, they look like a cylinder.
So when you pulled the push rod out,
the oil suction pulled the lifter out of
its bore then fell off the push rod.
Depending on which hole it was you may
be able to take the pipe plugs out of
the side of the block to stick the
lifter back in the bore.
Or you will have to reach down the push
rod hole carefully aand try that way.

I have a buddy who is a carpenter,
should not have been working on his
1086 , after he pulled the rocker arm
shaft and pushrods 3 tappets were out
of place , bad news , i went to help
him , with a small magnet i was able to
get them back in place. Steve

I had magnet in the hole were tappet
was out of place and watched through
another hole and light through another
hole, might help to look through
breather opening, it takes a lot of
patience, no one watching :) Steve

You can see and also feel with pushrod
if tappets are in the right place, when
removing pushrod shake it around before
lifting so tappets don't stick to it
