400 Engine into M Farmall?

I'm trying to install a 400 Farmall engine into a 45 M Farmall. My flywheel off of my M engine will not bolt to the 400 crankshaft. Has anyone ran in to this issue and does anyone have any good ideas to remedy the problem? BTW I do have the flywheel and clutch setup from the 400 but the M's pressure plate is to small to bolt to the 400 flywheel and since the clutch setup on the 400 is set up for the TA the M's transmission shaft won't fit it. Any ideas are appreciated thanks for reading
 
You could use the 400 flywheel and
pressure plate but use the M disk. You
could knock the PTO drive out of the
pressure plate if it has clearer
problems.
 
Something is wrong if it won't work. Does the crankshaft have the dowel pins in it? The 4 crankshaft bolt holes will only line up with flywheel if placed right. 12 and 11 inch flywheels will fit M through 450.

That is what I was thinking. M through 450 all interchangeable.
 
Both flywheels should fit. If you use the 400 flywheel you will need a clutch disc for a Super M. The 400 pressure plate will work or one for a Super M will also work.
 
I believe there is a clearance issue with the belly pump reservoir if the Late M through 400 Clutch assembly/FW is used in a 45M Am
I incorrect? Jim
 
Correct a 12 inch clutch needs a late belly pump. I should have said crankshafts and flywheels have the same bolt pattern. 12 inch clutch plate from a 400 has different splines than a M anyway.
 
thanks for the help I got it on there it was just 180 degrees off. Is there any difference between a super M engine and a 400 engine? are the hp the same or was a 400 more powerful?
