I got the tractor cleaned up some and found it has power steering, and I think its factory. I have new brakes and seals for the shaft, does it take 2 seals a side ? The manual doesnt say but it looks that way.

Looks like the Char-Lynn power steering that was added to my M by the previous owner.
I would replace the alternator with a Hitachi which would fit better.

Thanks for the info on the power steering, and I will check the alternator to, the belt is to long on this set up,

Alternator appears to be a Delco. It fits an M just fine, but you will need to reconfigure the mounting bracket so that the alternator sits a little higher. Do it right and the original Farmall M generator belt will be a perfect fit.

Thanks for that info to, I have to reconfigure my barn so I can get it inside. It is a delco. The
tractor sat for a long time, so needs a good tune up and a carb rebuild. If it were original paint I
would leave that alone,

When John "The Red" Fritz worked on his tractors he found the newer seals were thinner than the originals and used two of them to make up the same depth as the originals. I don't know if just one would work ok.

They originally used two because they were made out of leather instead of synthetic rubber.

A single modern double lip seal will work fine IF the bearings are not too loose or the shaft too worn.

Thanks for all the comments, Most of my tractors are Green, so kinda new the the M. I do have a super A.

Hi there i have a farmall m with this serial number fbk276458x1 and then 67-22-dj and next to that is 7-22w can anyone tell me what his is

Question. How is the power steering hydraulicly powered? I don't see a live hydraulic pump. So does it run off the belly pump? If so when you push clutch in does it quit?

I guess that is more than one question. Just curious how it works.

Thanks Todd

You can see the p/st pump on the left frt. of engine ahead of the governor. The reservoir is above under the hood.

OK. Thank you. So the pump was belt driven? Did it run off the generator Belt? It's hard for me to see it.

Thanks Todd

Tholmer a aftermarket pulley was added in front of the crankshaft pulley to drive the power steering pump. Longer hand crank pin retained it. Driven like this picture but the aftermarket pump bracket bolted to governor cover bolts.
