Super C and SMTA

I have traded for a Super C and the vin tag is missing. I was needing to know what year it was and was wondering if there was any way to tell other than by the vin number. I also have a Super MTA with a worn vin tag. The vin number ends with S. I haven't see anything that says that it should end in S. Just don't want to have what I think should be a Super MTA and it be something different. Has very old decals that say SMTA but vin has me stumped.

As far as the Super C,you can see what the casting codes say, that means when were the majority of casting's, were casted. A 7-2-X is July 2nd, 1952, but that not the day necessarily, the day it was assembled. The super C was made for four years, 51-54

New plates are available aftermarket. Here are 2 original super mta tags. The first is mine second is a random one i saw.

If your SMTA has a TA and/or independent PTO, it is an SMTA. No other model with that style hood had either of those features.

To tell if it has independent PTO, aside from the S on the serial tag, start the PTO and push the clutch. If the PTO stays running, it is independent.
