I have TD15C Bulldozer with engine
bad. Have opportunity to get a good
engine out of a truck. Will it work?
Anything I need to look out for?

Sorry i have to threw cold water in your face on this one, but that 466 has got to long of stroke for 2650 RPM's. They didn't stand up in the 4366 tractor and i know i am going to get some guff on this, but i wouldn't give 10 cents for a DT466.

The rpm's had very little to do with engine failure in a 4366. It was the fact the engine was too small for that size tractor so everyone over fueled it. When you put that many feet on the ground with the weight of that tractor the engine never got a chance to catch it's breath. Would literally melt the manifold right off the tractor.
The ones that used the 34inch tires and left the fuel alone did pretty well. Also, all 466 in 1466 etc were high idle speed of 2640 on early models and 2850 on later models. Too high, yes, but not a real contributor to engine failure.

Myself i do not have a problem with the 466 , the problem comes when you turn the wick up and make smoke and like pete said they will melt the manifolds off them and or melt down pistons cause them to swell and break a rod and sent that out the side of the block. Break a crank and you can normally trace that back to the harmonic balancer shifting , how many even take a look at theres , how many change them when the start to feel a vibration and when they do how many mark them to keep and eye on them to see when they do start to move. Now as to the man's question will a 466 out of a TRUCK fit , Myself i have been out of the Heavy equipment rend for a LOT of years , NOW if they put the 466 in the TD 15 C then yes you MAY have to use some pieces and parts of the org engine . Now back in 63 when the 806 first came out the man i worked for who bought the first 806 in my area also bought a new TD 15 and it came with the DT361 , and i know that the next ones in line came with the DT407 and later they did come with the 466 .So depending on when his was built will depend on engine swap.

It looks like the TD15C used the DT466 engine.

The truck engine will bolt in place of the tractor/dozer engine. The block is the same externally. You will need to transfer things over like the rear adapter plate, front cover, oil filter brackets, accessories, etc..

Wouldn't the injection pump on a truck engine have a different style governor (or lack therof) than the injection pump on a dozer?

Thanks guys, that's what I needed to know. Our bulldozer spends a lot of time sitting. A while back it
started getting water in the oil. I always ran good. I think it's just liner seals. It may be easier to put
pistons and liners in frame rather than doing all that changing over.
