Cub serial number

I recently found a loan document from 1952 where my grandfather pledged his Cub as collateral. It shows a "motor number" 351686. I can't determine if this is a serial number or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Will that help me determine what year the tractor was? I have been wanting to get one for a project and would prefer to have one as similar to his as possible.

Not really. If the note was from 1952, it could be a 47 up to 52. Was that the only number on the note? Im not good with part castings, but if there is no R1, etc after the number, that may help narrow it down, if someone has that info.

The serial number would be between 501 and 162283,that's the last one in 1952. Somebody got their money worth out of that cub, because they only sold for $545.00 dollars in 1947.

That was the only number. I guess banks were not as worried about that sort of thing in 1952. I was hoping that it was the serial number and I could possibly track down the same tractor. My dad had told me that he thought it was a 1950 model.

$545. sounds cheap, but keep in mind that in 1947, a brand new car could be purchased for probably less than $2,000.
