Farmall Super C Engine dipstick

Hello. I was looking at a Farmall Super C and noticed thar it had a dipstick. Was this from the factory? Added by dealer? Most I have seen just have the petcocks on the oil pan.

My 123 engine has a dipstick, but it was a stationary engine ,so you could check the oil with it running. The one side of the dipstick is for when it's running the other side is for when it is shut off

The engine did not come on the tractor. It could have been on a combine or baler hard to tell mite have just been a power unit

I believe all Super C's had a water pump so that's not unusual.

The dipstick could have been added by a previous owner in addition to the other possibilities. I've heard of people installing them in running engines on occasion.

The engine serial number and the tractor serial are around 2,000 off
from each other, so not exact but close. I heard in later years that
the tractor and engine serial didn't match up like onthe very early
Farmall like the Regular

If I remember right some of the late 1954 models had the dipstick from the factory. That is confirmed in the parts manual where it says for the reference 12 on the engine "if equipped with dipstick". The dipstick is shown clearly there. I seem to remember our neighbors late 1954 model having a dipstick but that is 60 years or more ago.

I have the Super C my Dad purchased new in 1954. The engine is original to the tractor and it has had a dipstick as far back as I can remember. The tractor serial number is 193191 and engine serial number is 202090, so about 9000 difference between the two. Seeing there were approx 11,000 Super C`s made in 1954, Dad`s tractor is about halfway through production that year, but I don`t know if it came from the factory that way. I do know that it was available as a dealer installed accessory, though.
