Farmall BN Zenith carb questions

Finally got my ignition issues straightened out and got to hear my tractor run for the first time! Tractor will only run if I spray gas down the carb. Removed the carb and found a ton of gunk in the carb from lacquered gas and a rusty fuel tank. So a rebuild is in order.

The carb is either professionally rebuilt or a new carb that went on about two years ago. I'm thinking I could get away with just a gasket kit and a thorough cleaning. The only tractor place around is Tractor Supply...do they carry the gasket kits for the Zenith carbs? I know they've got a limited selection.

Also, does anybody have a good closeup photo of the float where it contacts the needle? I see the needle has a groove on the back which would hook to the float but the float does not have the corresponding fork to catch it.

On a different note did the BN's originally come with the Zenith carb? The neck for my oil bath air cleaner and the neck on the carb are different sizes.

Thanks for the help!

The needle groove is for a tiny wire clip that hooks on the groove and loops aroung the float tab. It "pulls" the needle ut of the seat. Not necessarily needed, but Ok if in the new kit. Jim

I have used a couple of gasket kits from NAPA which fit fine, but the bowl gasket lacked a vent passage which caused flooding when the engine shut off. I punched a hole for it and all was fine. Tractor has been running with it in the carb for about 10 years.

Zenith made carbs that look a like but a little different inside. My Farmall B has a float like the one in picture and no groove on needle. Have you cleaned or replaced this filter on carb?

My carb most certainly does not have that filter! Will have to get it ordered for next weekend.

Just to get her running I'm running a fuel line straight from the tank(may or may not run the sediment bowl) thru a set of several cheapo see thru Fram fuel filters and into the carb.

Curious what the original fuel line would have looked like?

My carb kit arrived and I've had the old torn down carb soaking for a week in the carb cleaning solution.

Got the old carb broken down all the way except for one vertical brass tube in the carb base. I just can't get it out, any tips for that? I do see there is not a new one in the kit.

ALSO, I've seen other Zenith carb photos online, log with the diagram in the rebuild kit, shows a screw type valve that goes in the horizontal jet bore on the bottom of the main body. Mine does not have that, just a regular bolt. Is that correct?

My carb is 14007

Thanks guys!

One other thing I'd like to ask. I was going thru an OLD post of mine on here from 2012(wow, haven't realized its been that long!) And established the wrong carb is on the tractor.

Will this tractor operate alright with the Zenith 14007?
