Front farmall emblem

Should the front emblem on my 44 farmall B be all Chrome or have a black back ground? Got one that is all chrome. What is the best way to paint the back drop if it's black?

I refurbished one of mine. Painted the whole thing gloss black and used very fine wet and dry sand paper and sanded off the high spots (letters and border).

my 47 B front emblem is aluminum and I took a fine paint brush and painted the black. You can buy these new from Bates Corporation Bourbon, Indiana.

44 would be a steel emblem painted, durine the war tey used steel during the war aluminum before and after.

I put a layer of masking tape over the emblem and then using an xacto knife cut out around the letters.
Spray painted the background, then touch up with steel wool and small paint brush.
Mine had some extra dents that were kinda hard to straighten.
