Do the internal pivot points on an H governor need to be lubricated? My 51 H is not very smooth on engine acceleration under load. I am thinking that perhaps the various shafts and weight pivots in the governor need lubrication. Does this make sense, or am I missing a different problem?

They get oil mist and are lubed. If the components are dry and rusty with the cover off, the connection to the engine is plugged. much of the problem with uneven speed increase is caused by lean running. The carb acrew on the bottom adjusts the load richness. I would turn that screw out CCW 1/2 turn at a time to see if that helps. If not, put it back where it was. Jim

The shaft that supports the "fork" has needle bearings at each end. This shaft may be grooved from many years of use. Parts are available at your Case-IH dealer.
