Big Hope Update --Hugh McKinney

Hey everyone, it's me again, this time with
some heavy-duty, high-wattage news about
answered prayer and glorious progress in
cancer treatment : The doctors at Oshners in
New Orleans conferred with my doctors in
Shreveport, and they unanimously agreed
that I have but one viable option for
successful treatment of my metastasized
cancer: T-cell therapy at University of
Texas M D Anderson Medical Center in
Houston. According to my principal
oncologist, the results they have had
recently in the treatment of end-stage
cancer of have been nothing short of
phenomenal. I have an appointment there 2
weeks from today. More where this good news
came from! Hugh

Hugh, that's great news. M D Anderson is super. I hope you can keep in touch as you progress. Please remember LOTS are praying for you (including me, of course)! kelly

We are all on your side. There is great progress being made in that field. It is that recognition of self and the recognition of cancer that will help your body reject the cancer. Jim

That's exactly what my oncologist said. The immune system can become confused and overwhelmed by some extremely aggressive cancers, to the point where it can't distinguish between friend and foe. This process sets things back in order where it can fight, and win the battle against cancer. Thanks for that post, Jim.

Hugh, I looked and MD Anderson seems to be in more than one location, but a phone map search says two hours and 47 minutes. The route would be I 10 to Seguin and then north on Hwy 123 about 19 or so miles. If you'd feel up to coming you'd sure be welcome. I'll give you address and more specific directions as needed. My neighbor has a Rumley and a couple of old steam tractors you might be interested in seeing. After you know your MD A location maybe I could come visit you. I'll be driving a team of Percheron draft horses on the Salt Grass Trail Ride to Houston for the rodeo from Feb 24 - March 3 and the H U G E parade on Saturday March 4. If you are in the area, it'll be on tv.
Once again, all best wishes and prayers for BOTH you and your wife/family. Kelly

I have a BIL involved in a cancer trial their, just started 3 weeks ago, flies from north Iowa to Houston every 2 weeks for about 3 hours then flies back. He has very good experience with them. Good luck to you and your family.

Thanks Hydro70, that is good to know. It gives me some idea about how my treatments will be set up. I'll be keeping your family in my prayers, as well. Hugh

Thank you Jim, Kenny and everybody who is taking the time out of your busy days to lift me up in your thoughts and prayers. Believe me, I have made some medical connections on the last week that have completely changed my prognosis from grim to glorious. I cannot thank you all enough. Hugh
