1026 lower radiator panel colors

Hello everybody. My father recently picked up a 1026 and I had a question about the side panels on the radiator that holds the number plate. The majority I see are red, but this one and a couple others I have seen are white. I don't know any history on the other white panels I've ran across, but I do know that this tractor hasn't been repainted. It had a cab so the back looks shinier. Anybody have any thoughts? My first idea was that maybe it was a late tractor and was painted to roll out with the 66 series, but it's a 1970 model by the serial number, so that rules out a late production paint scheme.

Red is the correct color for that panel. They were not painted white from the factory, so yours has to have been repainted. Maybe not the whole tractor, but just those panels.

Some guys were pretty particular about how their tractors looked. The person who originally bought that 1026 may have traded in an 806, and liked the white panel look, so he had it painted. That's why you see some 300/400 tractors painted with white grilles. Personal preference.

Yeah I have seen all of the 300/400s all painted like the 50's too. But it seems like I have seen a lot of 1026's that have white panels. Never seen any of the other 56 series with white panels. If the tractor was repainted it had to be done about when it was new. It's the older style paint, All of the white matches, and they would never of sandblasted and stripped the paint back then. And its weathered just like he rest of the tractor. Just wierd.

The correct color is red. There were no 1026's or 56 series that left the factory with white radiator panels. Your dad's tractor has panels that
have either been replaced with 06 panels or repainted.

They can't be replaced with 06 panels, only the 1256, 1456 and 1026 had those stype panels. But thanks for the input everybody!
