966 Goes then Whoas slowly

966 hydro will work good when it is cold but when it warms up about 2 hours it will slowly begin to slow down. Where do I start.
I assume pressure testing is in order but have no knowledge of IH hydros. Have case powershifts. Tractor is not mine, but can buy at a good price if not too expensive to fix. Give me an idea on where to start diagnosing this machine as it is in real nice shape with a cab and loader. TIA.
 
Hey Arlen, try this link (if you can watch YouTube videos). This guy is the owner of Herrs Machine, a well known rebuilder, repairer, and supplier of IH Hydro units and tractors. A very friendly guy, and always goes out of his way to help people. Let's just say you needed an entire hydro unit for your tractor, which is referred to as a "large frame" hydro, last I checked the price for a FULLY rebuilt exchange unit with ALL new parts was around $6-7,000.

RBoots, thanks for the link. Probably the same testing for the 966 I presume. Hopefully it won't need a new hydro. Worst case scenario I guess.
