IH Hy Tran question please

I inherited an International 986 that had just had a new clutch installed and there was an O ring leak of all the hydraulic oil. O ring was replaced but not the hyd fluid. It is now part of an estate sale and I wanted to get it 100% - 1. Can I use Travelers Trans Hydraulic ? 2.Do I need to do anything other than fill back to specs? - No bleeding lines or any tips would help - thanks

On a 986 I would bite the bullet and use Hytran. Over fill it by 5 gallons. The price difference on a free tractor is not worth degrading it. Jim

With a 986 I would use Hytran. If it were a mechanical TA tractor I would have no problem with equivalents.

With every Deere I use HyGuard. With my 886 I use HyTran. It's pricey, but I know there's no question that I am using the right stuff. Change
the filter under the right step and overfill it by five gallons. Trust what others say on this. My 886 only has 3400 hours but it hasn't stopped a
connection from leaking slightly. That extra five gallons stops any wierd gremlins from appearing. It also primes very fast when it has been
sitting overnight. I can literally tell when it gets down to the full mark. When I am haying in 100 degree weather the brakes have a whine to them
when you idle it down. Keep it five gallons over full and it's happy as a clam. I think it keeps the fluid cooler as well.

Minus those stupid doors, you will love the 986.
