Farmall 756 Gas Engine Rebuild Video

i dont think she did the actual overhaul. she is too clean. did not check the con. rod bushing before installing new piston. suprised she changed oil filter after the overhaul. her valve setting procedure is not correrct. when setting valves on #1 cyl. you watch the valves on #6 cyl. not #2 cyl. its a video for the basic's.

I think she makes great videos and find her very intelligent, direct and well spoken. You have to remember that it is a 30 min video.

Yep just go ahead and believe all of what she was sayen , (1) she used a block of wood to drive the sleeve in and that sleeve in , she never said any thing about BORE CLASS . And that sleeve went in way to easy so give it some time and you will find it in the pan. (2) she did not do new rod bushings just stuffed a new piston and pin on and old bushing and here again before long you will end up with a wrist pin knock. . I could go on and on , but i needed a good laugh . I would have liked to see the block where the cracked sleeve was as i bet a bottle of C/R there was damage to that hole . (3) when using a torque wrench you do not lunge or jerk on it you apply even force , i see this all the time with people . Had real hard and hostel words with some smart arres kid at a tire shop one time over this , i have seen socalled expert high performance Diesel wrench holders doing this on a big diesel head that torques to 3-400 Ft.lbs .and wonder why it will puke a head gskt. Now as far as putting the sleeves in a freezer and dropping them in , yea it will work IF you are setting next to the freezer and have two pair of pliers in with the sleeves and you are real fast as they will swell really really fast and oce the touch the block you will be lucky if you get them in half way. OH no problem ya say will just do like she did If that sleeve is fitting like it is suppose to you will not be tapping it down in you will be DRIVING it and by driving it you can crack or wrinkle it . Did you see her say anything about fitting the piston to the sleeve , NO but you had better because you will find that OH they are not all the same size and you need no less then .004 skirt to wall i have gone to .0045 due to piston swell . Ok i am done .

Lot more to doing a good valve set then most know due to the age and years on old engines . Now if you dress the rocker arms while your doing a rebuild or a valve job then it is pretty straight forward . BUT your valve set will not be the same as mine . Your rebuild will not be the same as mine as you will not do everything that i do . Myself , Pete and Owen should have someone hovering over our shoulders making video's Then you would see and learn . Just like doing a T/A , lots of video on it but not everything ya need to know , anybody can twist a Wrench BUT they don't know what to do as to set up , they don't have the propper tools so the do things that do damage and not realize it because it went together and they are happy till it fails and they blame the parts or something else but it was what they did that caused the failure .

To be fair, if she had gone into all the details the video would have been several hours long, and most people wouldn't even watch. It's mostly an advertising vehicle for S T E I N E R.

Probably would have been better to pick a different tractor that wasn't so persnickety about tolerances.

I would love to see tractor vet create a complete video series showing every detail of how he overhauls these 6-cylinder IH engines. Don't forget one of these days you'll be gone and people will still need to rebuild these things.

yes, i picked that torque wrench thing out right away. and also give those tire changers hell also when i see them do that.
