IH 404 valve under the seat

I have the opportunity to get this tractor as trade for my 8N. But this valve is leaking. Can you tell me what this valve is called? My dad "fixed" it with JB weld so I will probably have to get another one. Can you tell me what one costs? Also, do you know if the pto will continue to turn when the clutch is pressed? That is one of the things I do not like about my 8N; when you push the clutch the pto stops. Thanks. Rick

If you are talking about the valve on the right side of the seat base with the lever, it is usually called a "hydraulic valve," but is also known as a "remote" or an "SCV."

Getting one of those to stop leaking... Good luck with that. I've been trying for years, replacing everything in there that's replaceable. Old IH mechanics know some trick to fix them.

New ones are no longer available as far as I know, but given that people ask as much as $350 for a used one in unknown condition, I would imagine a new one would cost around $600.

The 404 PTO is NOT live. It will stop when you push the clutch.
