Farmall H throttle control swivel linkage

The throttle control swivel linkage pictured here connects to the head-mounted bracket with a cotter pin through the hole near the bottom of the picture. Either the bracket or the connecting linkage must have a fair amount of wear because it seems a little sloppy. I can get new springs from Case-IH but am looking for parts with less wear. Another option might be to drill out the bracket and find a bushing. Anyone else work on this linkage recently?

That one is in pretty darn good shape. If the hole through is worn, a bushing could be fit. If the hole in the bellcrank is oval, a bushing is appropriate. Do not expect this repair to do much. The IH throttle levers generally do nothing on the Idle end of travel until 1/4 of the travel. Jim

Thanks Jim. I should have mentioned I didn't take a picture of my actual linkage, I found this picture online as an example, mine isn't in this good of shape.

One thing to be aware of.... that throttle rod is not a solid bar of steel , it is a hollow tube. It bends easy, it also breaks.

When I went through my two H's and M I welded up all worn linkages or cut them off and welded on correct size pins, bolts, bushings, what ever it took. Nice and tight and throttle stays put in notches. Same thing on clutch, brakes , pto, seat, and what ever. Takes a lot of time but that is what I have.

I am in the process of putting my H back together. When I took this off a few months ago, I found that the rod itself was worn out! It looked like it had been threaded - and RE-threaded - several times. The bracket was also "wallered out". I Found another bracket off a local parts tractor, and made a new rod. Mine is a solid rod, turned down - just like the one that came off the tractor....
