my tractor is fouling the first 2 plugs in front near the radiator. the 2 in the rear are ok. the exhaust manifold in front across from the 2 oil soaked plugs looks burnt not like the rear one. It is also smoking and blowing an oil/ gas mixture out of a hole on the underside of the intake manifold and getting it all over the tractor. I posted this yesterday on the main forum and one person told me I would prob. get more answers on the formal one.So far it has been recommended to change plugs, do a compression check, It was also said to adjust the valves as that can be part of the problem.some said that they think the intake has a hole in it from rusting through. The hole looks to much like a prefect one eight inch hole that has always been there. Thanks

A perfect hole would be the weep hole designed to let out any water that gets into the manifold.

The compression check is a good recommendation, as is adjusting the valves. What it will probably tell you is that the engine desperately needs a rebuild.

The hole is supposed to be there. it lets out condensation. The compression check is to determine if there is a blown head gasket
between the front two cylinders. There could be stuck rings on those two as well, or bad valve guides allowing oil to be sucked
into the cylinders.
First step: with it running pull off the front plug wire (insulated plug wire pliers are best) to see if it makes a difference. if
not, pull #2 off and if no difference, at least you know it is not running on those cylinders. Next take the spark plugs out of 1
and 2 and put them in 3 and 4. with those in 1 and 2. does it start and if so do #1 and #2 now provide the power? if so replace
the plugs. I recommend the compression check next. Purchase an old auto repair book and learn how to do a compression check. Jim

Thanks guys Jim I will try the spark plug test and see what happens valves should be adjusted to 14 Thousand is that correct? and that weep hole is where it is blowing smoke and a oil/ gas mixture that is spewing out pretty good I cleaned toff and restarted stand within a few minutes was smoking and spitting that crap all over the motor, the crb and back of the generator.
Howard.

I have an old compression tester so I will attempt to record the readings.

It wouldn't hurt to make sure that your firing order is correct. It should be 1-3-4-2. The #1 cylinder is closest to the radiator. Easy to check by following the wires from the distributor.

Had a similar situation with my H. It was a
complete clog up of the crankcase vent tube.
There was a huge amount of oil coming from
the breather tube. This may be an issue for
you as well.

compression readings are #1 45, #2 0 yes Zero I even put a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder and still a big fat zero reading. #3 is 50 and #4 is 30 The pushrods are all straight and the rocker arm is clean and the valves seem like they are all working. I am going to pull the head and look at the valves and head gasket. Do you think the pistons need to come out and check the rings? Thanks

Howard
