Super A update, one other question

I put the carb back on today and the tractor started up ok however the Rpm's were doing up and down like you were moving the throttle lever back and forth. The governor to carb rod was moving back and forth as well, if I held the rod it would smooth out but would start back when I released it. It did this at idle and also at full throttle, does the yoke on that shaft need turning in to take up the slack? Governor need attention?? Never had a tractor do this before )

Thanks Jim, one question you might could answer, where does the throttle need to be when I remove the clevis pin? He says to move it to full throttle after removing the pin, just want to make sure i'm doing it right

I'm neither Jim nor Gene (they are the gurus :)); trying to answer your question.
The sequence is:
1 Remove clevis pin
2 Move throttle control lever to full throttle
3 Open the throttle plate on the carb manually by moving the little lever on the outside of the carb and keep it wide open
4 Adjust clevis so that pin slides in freely
Note: by clevis we mean the clevis of the governor-to-carb-rod.

Hey guys check out the picture, I did what you said but the lever is out of threads and I still lack some space. What should I do now??

Is that a home-made arm on the governor or a home-made extension on the original arm? hard to tell from the picture. Either way, I would get rid of the home-made part and make sure it has the original arm properly attached to the shaft.

I removed that piece, not sure why someone put it on though. The clevis was lined up to the arm perfect for the pin to go through. When I started the tractor back after removing that piece it continued to do like before, rev up and down. Should I look and see how the governor spring looks?? I drove it out of the shed to see if it would clear up but the tractor died and wouldn't start back, gas was leaking from the bottom weep hole of the carb. My patience is starting to run thin with this thing!! LOL

Howard, if I'm seeing things correctly, that piece you are trying to put the pin through is about 2" longer than the arm it is bolted to. REMOVE that piece and adjust the clevis rod to the original (cast, "S" shaped) arm from the governor.
