Hi guys, I am getting my 1970 International 140 ready to paint.
Is the red color the same as the Farmall letter series ?

I've found there are several Farmall red's. The Van Sickle is sorta not-really close, but I had it develop a white film just sitting in the shade. Rustoleum's are close. I found at my Case-IH dealer there were three reds, as I recall. I think there was a 50, a 2150, and a B1785566 or some such. I was told the latter B17566 or whatever, was the best, so I used it and it matches the new Case-Farmalls on the lot, as close as I can tell. I like it a lot. I keep my Farmall in the barn, so the sun does not fade it.

The earlier letter series used IH 50. Quite possibly the #50 is correct for all the letter series. #2150 was used on the later letter series and the number series, so I believe the 2150 would be correct for the 140.

Stay away from the Van-Sickle and Rustoleum. The color is not correct and both will fade quickly if left in the weather.

when I painted my 584 and I know some people my not like it, but I used a good auto body paint with hardener. it was Sherman Williams and the color was lipstick red. I never got the hang of posting pics but could send one of my phone if you want to see it just send me your email. I use all my tractors so having the one painted to the right spec has not happen yet, but some day the 1468 will be in my heard.

I never had a problem with Rust-Oleum tractors have been outside in sun at shows got dirty cultivating corn ect and the color has held up great after 14yrs but I did sandblast then prime before final paint.
