784 Brake master cylinder and other questions

I'm trying to repair a few issues on my 784 and the first one is the brake master cylinder. There is a leak either from the cylinder or the reservoir which has gone from a drip to draining the reservoir. If it is the reservoir I'll just patch it up but if its the cylinder, is it repairable or better to just replace it? I also got a spin on fuel filter head from a junked 684 which looks like an easy refit. If anyone has ever done this did you run into any issues? I got some LED headlights and put them in after patching and painting the plastic. They are 12W/5700k LED's. I hope to get them wired and tested next week.

Thanks,

Scott

Well,on the master cylinders,I would clean the area real good, maybe use brakekleen,or steam clean it,and then find out where the leak is for sure.It may be just the supply hoses,or their clamps. Are you having any brake problems? If so,and it is the cylinders leaking,I would probably replace them. You can check the bores, but they probably are scored or pitted. If you use reman,a word of caution-we have found some that the fittings bottom out without seating the brake line, and also the plunger push rod pin won't fit without reaming the hole in the push rod with a die grinder. If you remove the battery box,and I recommend it,you can work on the master cylinders much easier.Well worth the short time it takes!
On the fuel filters,I would try it-looks like a bolt on swap, and you would rather change those spin ons anyway!
Your lights look good.Mark

I got the spin on filter head installed. The CAV filters used a 12mm banjo fitting and the spin on uses a 14mm fitting so I bought a banjo fitting with a 5/16" barb and connected to the pump with hose. Very easy refit.
