Hello all, I hope 2017 is bright with promise for everyone. I'm posting to ask for your help. I have been battling prostate cancer for the past 12 months, and my latest psa test has come back, and it is a 59. My oncologist is ordering a fluoride pet scan, on account of that is an astronomically high number for someone who has already had prostate surgery. Your positive thoughts and fervent prayers would be most appreciated. Thanks, Hugh McKinney

You are in my thoughts. Strong positive feelings and intent to get well are major factors toward recovery. Jim

You're in my prayers too, the good new's is that it's the easiest one to cure, Has your doctor talked to you about a pellet,[that they insert] that some doctor from the Seattle area invented.

Thank you, Fastfarmall. Believe it or not, my oncologist said that was probably our best treatment option. Thanks for your support and thoughtfulness. Hugh

We're all pulling for you Hugh. And as JimN points out, strong positive feelings and intent to get well are key.

Hugh: My boss had the pellett thing done for his cancer and came out Great. I will say he was a little sore for a couple weeks after inserting pelletts. Hang in there with prayers sent from KY., Pembroke

My uncle had five of those pellets put in many years ago - all has been well for him for many years. They don't remove the pellets I guess. They told him he couldn't hold the dog or have the grandkids sit on his lap. Other than that it worked very well!

Hugh
Thanks for sharing. I'll join with my other farmall friends lifting you up to the great physician. While farmalls may keep us motivated sometimes it is our faith in the Lord that sees us through trials and uncertainties such as you are facing. I second what someone else said to read in the Psalms. Chapter 37 and after be good place to start. 1 Peter 5:7 for you friend. Keep us updated.

Hugh, My thoughts and prayers are for your recovery and successful treatment of your cancer. The Seattle, Washington area doctor who invented the radioactive seed implantation technique was Haakon Radge and we used to fish together when I lived in the Seattle area. I remember him talking about the process which he was working on in the 1960's. Do an internet search on his name and you will find considerable information available about Haakon and the template directed brachytherapy for prostate cancer he pioneered. Haakon has to be in his late 80's by now and I believe now lives in his native Norway and still active in studies of advanced prostate cancers. Best wishes for your successful treatments and recovery, Hal.

I appreciate it, Mr. Bass. I'm so sorry
about the grim diagnoses for both your Dad
and your Wife. Wow, what it's like to lose
those closest to you over all these years. I
will be lifting her, him, you and your whole
family up in prayer. We really need to
stick together in these tough times, and we
will be better people for reaching out to
each other. Hang in there, Mr. Bass! Hugh

Hello Farmallhal, and thank you for sharing that about your remarkable friend. I gotta tell you, it's been like somebody threw me a lifeline, when it comes to feeling hopeful again. When I get done with some chores, I'm reading up on this remarkable man and his life-saving innovation. Thanks again, Hugh

Farmallhal, thanks for the Info, i know all of my friend that got the pellets are still doing well. And that was 12-15 yrs ago

I had stage II prostate cancer and was treated with external radiation followed by seed implants. Have been cancer free for some time. Are seed implants an option after prostate surgery?

My brother had prostate cancer that went into hip bone. He is still getting chemo from the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. So far the treatment has stopped any growth.

You are in my prayers. I pray for complete remission and healing.

Hugh, you MUST google "Proton Therapy" or protonbob or Loma Linda University Medical Center and click on PROTON. I had pretty serious Prostate Cancer got Proton treatment in 2002 and have been baling and throwing 13,000 square bales a year from 2001 there 2016. The cure was a piece of cake. Wolfman.

Hugh, they often use proton therapy to "clean up" after failed prostate surgery. There are many Proton centers around the country and world, I highly recommend LLUMC at Loma Linda, Ca. Worth the trip. Wolfman.

I had a workmate at Boeing that was contemplating his treatment options and I got him in contact with Dr. Radge in the 1970's when the treatment wasn't universally accepted and he was so thankful as he was successfully treated and when I retired in 2001 he was still doing fine according to his son that I saw on occasion when I still lived in the area, Hal.

Hugh, you'll have my prayers too! Remember we need ya down here on earth to master those ol LP tractors. All best regards, kelly

Hugh I had prostate cancer in 2002. Had radiation treatments and radiation seed implants. PSA has been below 0.05 every sense. Will be praying and thinking of you. Look up and hang in there. Ronnie

Thank you doc8246:) First hand accounts like yours help me to get in there and fight. There is such a temptation to fall into self pity, and I was heading in that direction. And thanks for sharing about your psa. Could I possibly get your phone or email address? Anyways thank you for that uplifting post. All the best, Hugh

Thank you so much, it really lifts the
burden knowing that so many people are
praying. Will try to keep everybody posted.
Hugh
