Minor super c headache

I know the last thing people like to do is answer
stupid questions, but I've only owned the tractor a
couple weeks and promise to buy a shop manual
soon. I was out blading snow this morning on my
Super C with a front mounted blade, and on my last
scrape across the parking lot I hit a cement curb
with my blade. Then I was unable to lift me front
blade. It appears there was a 3/8ths bolt or retainer
that held thing together as it rocked up and down, on the left front rock shaft side.
Half of it is still stuck in the back section that move
up and down, but the front section fell out when it
broke. From the look of the back piece it has
threads plus a cotter key. My question is this a
special part or will a 3/8 x 3 3/4 machine bolt work.
Just curious, don't want to mess anything up.
Thanks. Lh

I've got a Super C with a front blade and I still don't know what your talking about, Post a picture. Also have the manual for the IH blade, number 72 blade I think.

Just taking an educated guess but I bet that bolt is a common bolt that had a castle nut on it and the cotter pin is used to lock the castle nut on the bolt. I would use a grade 8 bolt and a lock nut on it. Ya you might be able to find a bolt with a hole already drilled for the cotter pin but a lock nut is likely to work just as well

Does your blade look something liket this one?

On the left there are two rockshafts. The outer for the front implements and the inner for the rear. As I remember, the two have little clearance between them. Ours have pins in them, under a spring loaded keeper. The pins are 3/8" or thereabouts X 1 1/2" long, or so. You can get some, or something similar that will do, at a tractor supply place. Make sure whatever you use, that it doesn't extend into the inner rockshaft and create interference. If it's in a different location, or I'm remembering wrongly, ignore this advice and, quite likely a bolt will do.
