steering wheel rattle

Above the light bar on my M Farmall is the cast piece that the steering shaft goes through. It appears to be riveted to the column. Is it an insert removable by grinding the rivet and punching it out? It is worn out and rattles unless I lift up on the steering wheel a little. Has anyone seen this part for sale? I know it is only half of the wear problem. Thanks, Ellis

Take a piece of aluminum tubing (like a section cut from a lawn chair leg) and make a shim to fit between the support and shaft. Clean the shaft and support. lift the wheel, put a dab of UJB weld on the back side of the shim, and slip it in place. grease the bearing after the "weld" sets up, 24hrs if cool out. Jim

Yes after removing rivet if loose it should just slide out, sometimes need to heat pipe to remove when they fit good. Discontinued from case IH. three different numbers used at serial number breaks. For a loose steering shaft maybe just bore for a bushing. For loose in pipe drill a hole on each side of pipe to weld steering support in and smooth up. Shouldn't need removed again in your lifetime. Connecting rod bushing for a C-175 engine can be used for a steering shaft bushing, or the center steering shaft bushing for a F-300 or F-350 unless the steering support hole is worn bad.
