Farmall H steering shaft universal Joint

I am trying to replace the universal joint on my 1950 Farmall H steering shaft. This is the universal joint that is located about mid-point on the tractor and runs all the way back to the steering wheel. Does anyone know how to disassemble the universal joint from the steering shaft?

The knuckle is splined and pinned. It will be a bugger to get off. The last one I ended up cutting it then removing with a ton of persuasion and a lot of heat. Good Luck!

Can see cutting the shaft and pinning a joint on if replacing the early type. Can't see cutting a 50 H shaft. Just replace the joint. Don't think I could explain how if you have never replaced one with internal locks. Locks are inboard of bearing caps. Best to remove the steering wheel and remove shaft first. Loosen bottom of steering post if needed. Bearing from a dealer should be 20 some dollars.

Have u got access to a Sabre Saw, preferably a Milwaukee, if you did u could take it out of the there in about 2 minutes, and tack in a new one

Maybe this picture will help on figuring out how they go.

You can replace 'em right on the tractor. All you need is a good C-clamp and a couple of sockets the right size to press the cross out of the yokes.

Disconnect the universal on the end you can disconnect it and do it right there on the tractor.

Ok great. Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated.
