Trying to ID this governor out of my 45 parts H. Doesn't look like the one I'm trying to change it out for from a running 44 H. Thoughts appreciated.

Think rocket was the name of last vendor for that governor. Not sure if it's being sold under another name later.

I assume that they were some short of performance increase with these governor's? Anything to very working before I install? Original on the tractor is plum wore out.

It is a Thompson Brothers Rock-it governor as D Slater said. Very good governor.

It's also in a housing that has the bumper spring which wouldn't have any affect here as the rock-it rocker assembly does not have the leg for the bumper spring to contact. It will work great,a very good option. Bob

The M&W governor, or Rocket, gave a quicker response when a load was applied to the engine. Those governors did not increase horsepower, but the tractor FELT like it had more power. If I had one, I would install it.

Looks pretty clean. Weights will be a little loose, that's normal. Make sure everything moves free including the shaft in tube to carburetor butterfly shaft. Sometimes the joints at the ends of rod from pivot fork to throttle tube shaft get a little play if well used. Sometimes the little ball bearings on the pivot fork get rough. Looks like that one is well oiled so maybe okay on the bearings. Have to wonder if the rod to butterfly operating shaft lever was adjusted correct, because the high speed stop screw is turned all the way in on lever at forward end of spring. Looks like the rocket spring. If anything over time the spring weakens and the screw needs backed out some. Can't understand why they have it screwed full in. Most tractors with the rest of linkage adjusted correct wouldn't come close to specified RPM like that.

Thanks guys for all the great information! I hope to get governor installed here today will post further on how it runs after install.
