Looking for a Distributor Cap and rotor and points set, for my 1950 farmall "C" already have been to NAPA they can not find parts or wrong parts or to small, the distributor is a Prestolite 1BT 4106A the original cap measures 3.125" inside lip across bottom, the clip holders on cap measure
.250 from bottom, no markings on cap just on inside a no. 1BK-1008, points set screw on to a plate which in turn screw inside of distributor using
the screws for the holder clips, condenser is small, measures 1.0625, was going to order parts from web site not sure which, any thoughts..

Not too long ago there was several NAPA stores in Wichita Falls, and my dad always said they cost a little more but they had better parts and you got the correct parts the first time, so he used them.
Now all that's changed. There is 1 NAPA store 22 miles from home, 46 miles from my tractor, and when I called them looking for a head gasket they didn't know what part I need. I looked it up online off their site and told them the part #, they ordered the part, said I needed to pay freight cause it rode trailways, and then they sold me the wrong part. So I ended up driving 136 miles for nothing. The kid I talked to on the phone when I learned they sent me the wrong part first said the parts were one way, because I had special ordered them. When I got through talking to him he told me to bring the part back for a refund. BTW, they ordered the wrong part, I gave them them the right part #.
SOOO, I haven't used them since.

I'm not saying the other parts places don't mess up, but at least they are in town.

We've had 3 or 4 NAPA's, and all by different owner's. . Some not worth stopping by, others are truly excellent. The current one is exceptional.

Back to the original question, I just looked in the parts catalog that was within arms reach, happened to be for the Cub. The Prestolite cap listed there is 71907C1. Googling that, I see a substitute to A44429 and about a zillion web sites where you can find it. The same part is listed for every Prestolite distributor on every tractor you can name.

Among the listed results was this pointer to the same question posted on this site a while back:

I didn't check the numbers on the other parts but have no reason to doubt what AG and Bill posted.

You have "p!$$ poor" NAPA.Tell them to shut off the computer and open up the book. Take your old parts with you as a sample,go find the old guy who has been there for a'hundred' years.Too ofter the young guys/'newbys' dont know and dont want to know. They have a "if it's not in the computor,it doesn't exist" attitude. It's up to you to teach them. Take the Prestolite number. If that doesnt work, find another parts supplier. BTW,Check out these guys right here at YT. They will have your parts.

I couldn't edit, but I didn't reply to the OP. My 450 has a prestolite dist; I found parts for it at the local O'Rielly's auto parts. They carry points, condenser, rotor, cap for my prestolite. Here's the post from a while back.

Prestolite was an aftermarket replacement distributor. We got one for the M from C e n t r a l Tractor many many years ago when the IH distributor wore out and grenaded.

The parts book for the C-123 engine shows the Prestolite distributor too. It appears that it came on late 140 tractors.

NAPA has the parts for the Prestolite distributor.

Cap: ECH AL165
Rotor: ECH AL150

I have found as the other guy says O'Reilly's can get me most any ignition part I ever need.

Old, like you I have found O'Reilly's able to get about anything I ever needed tractor-wise. The key is finding the one person there that is interested in old tractors and willing to hunt to stuff down. gm

I get my caps, point set,and coils from NAPA for my IH and AC tractors. I get the caps with the brass pickups.

Nice thing is at lease at the local O'Reilly's I have the people know me and know I am a tractor guy so a good many I have sort of trained to find tractor stuff. Shoot there are times when they cannot find the parts for some one they call me asking where to find the parts. The O'Reilly's I have here has moved 3 times over the 40 plus years I have been going there.
