Starter for 1953 Cub

Gentlemen,
This is my first post on this forum. A search of the archives turned up no answers.
Is the 6V starter on the original flathead Cubs the same as the later Cubs? We have a stationery engine made in 1953 with no starter and wondered just how many starters would fit. We have nothing to go by.
We are looking at a Delco with a number 1109603 9A10. What say you all.

Thanks , Irv

If the starter you have found mounts in the same place as your 53 engine it will work later versions used a starter-gen then had a plate over the space on the bell housing.

1109603 is the starter for all 6-volt Cubs. It should go right on your power unit engine (assuming your flywheel has a ring gear). 9A10 is a date code, doesn't matter.

Thanks for your replies. It does have a ring gear. We got in touch with the fellow that has the starter, and he confirmed that it was the correct one. Sorry for my late reply
