350 Utility

I recently purchased a 350 Utility and have some questions. I have ordered an operators manual and service manual. Can't wait for manuals to answer my questions. The TA slips on the low side. Is there an external adjustment that can be made to eliminate that? There are two stubby(looks like they were broke off}hydraulic levers on right side below the seat. What are these for? Found the lever for two-point lift. Steering wheel has a lot of free-play. Is there an external adjustment that will eliminate that?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Sorry, there is no external adjustment for the slipping TA. It is worn out and needs to be replaced. You can just leave it in high range and drive the tractor as a straight 5-speed indefinitely, though.

The broken off hydraulic levers are for the hydraulic remotes. 350 Utility tractors often came with one or two hydraulic remotes in addition to the fast hitch control. These are for controlling things like trailing implements, or a loader.

I don't think there is any adjustment for the steering, either. If there is it has certainly long since been maxxed out. The steering boxes are the main weak point of the tractor. It's worse if the tractor had a loader on it. Unfortunately parts are not available either, and good used steering boxes are extremely difficult to find.

There is an adjustment procedure for all the TA linkage. Your manuals will describe it in detail. Hopefully that may cure your problem of it slipping. If it doesn't you will have to split it and replace/repair it.

The TA cannot be fixed with adjustments it needs to have its sprag (one way) clutch replaced requiring a 2 section split of the tractor. (it harms nothing to use it in direct for as long as needed, but should be fixed (good winter project).
The front two levers are for remote operation of attachments not on the tractor. Probably capped off and (if good levers were attached and the valves freed up if stuck usable). There is some adjustment in the steering box, you need the manual. Tierod ends and spindle bearings are also contributors to slop. Jim 350U owner.

I knew a guy who had a 450D. The TA went bad so he wired the handle so that it could not be used anymore. I don't know if it is good or bad, but I just do not use the TA on my tractors. Sometimes on the SMTA I will use it but rarely. I have seen a video on replacing one. Splitting any tractor is hard work but not overwhelming. The TA replacement did not look difficult.

They wear either using them or not. Just use them...... The lever should be jerked back, and slammed forward. Slow easing the lever kills them. I have an original one in a 350U that has 13,000 and works well. Jim
