Has anybody ever heard of a "factory option" for a turbo on an 806? There is a tractor advertised locally as an "806 with the rare turbo option", but best I can tell from the pictures, the tractor is most likely a 1206. It has white fenders and the casting around the grille is also white, and the grille itself appears to be the chrome or stainless grille from a 1206, not the distinctive vertical bars of an 806. The wheels are red, but the front wheels appear to be newer replacements and I have seen 1206s with red rear wheels before, although I don't much think they were factory. The emblems are missing from the tractor, and I'm wondering if the guy just doesn't know what he has or if it's a legitimate 806, but best I can tell they never had a factory option for a turbo, that being one of the main differences between the two. If anybody can shed some light on this, I'd be interested, thanks.

after 50 years who knows what parts have been mixed and matched. the chassis serial tag is on the LH side of clutch housing, the engine model/serial
nos are stamped on the LH side of block. D-361 for 806, DT-361 for 1206. no 806 left the factor with turbo, but there were M&W kits that could have
been added pretty soon after.
806 would be cat II 3 point, 1206 is cat III

As was said, anything is possible after 0ver 50 years....No 806 was "factory" turbo, however, some were turbocharged before they
left the dealer.Look at the hood,1206 will have a 'bump' in the air cleaner cover for the larger air filter. Also, there will a
'flair' on the sides of the radiator shroud to accomodate the bigger fon. 806 will not have these.806 will have category 3 point
or 2point fast hitch. 1206 will have the larger category '3' three point.Post some pics if you can, especially the SN tag,3
point,hood areas.

Thanks for the replies! I am supposed to go look at the tractor this weekend, so I will take pictures. One other thing, from what I've seen on TractorData.com, the 1206 was only offered with a 1000 rpm PTO. Were a 540 rpm PTO or dual PTOs available as options?

Here are the pictures from the ad. From the front and sides it sure looks like a 1206, but the rear view may tell the tale. The 3-point doesn't look like a Cat III to me, and when I emailed the owner he said that it has dual PTOs and dual remotes.

it wouldn't be too tough to swap a dual pto unit off a smaller tractor into a 1206, so don't get too hung up on that. 806 could also be ordered single
or double.

as for the 3 point hitch- the easiest way to tell at a glance is look at the outboard end of the rockshaft arms. the 806 will have a single eye on
each side, and the pivot for the leveling screw sits offset to the outside, whereas on the 1206, the rockshaft arm has two eyes spaced apart a couple
inches, and the pivot for the leveling screw mounts between them, like a clevis type of pivot.

Okay, this is something I have researched.
The PTO units on tractors of we'll over 100
horsepower were often unavailable with dual
PTO's. BUT the way farmers got around that
was to get the dealer to put in a dual speed
unit in place of the 1000 only units. Now
the key is the hookup internally. Sometimes
it is a direct swap, but on others the pto
shafts are not the same size and an adapter
has to be made. Personally, I had a great
experience using Worthington Tractor Parts.
THey sold me a pto out of a 1486 that was a
direct bolt-in to my 1586. They were very
helpful and knowledgeable. Your can call me
if you need to. 318-465-1472. Hugh

There was also some dealer put together kits. King bros in Arcola,IL made a setup that used a factory IH turbo manifold. It also had the hood exhaust hole modified for a different location. A long time family friend had a King Bros 856 and sometimes he would have to nose her into the wind to get her cooled down. They ran really good but the cooling system was a little small for the extra ponies.
