I have a Farmall 826D that I am restoring,so I have it partially disasemble.I have the injectors out to be checked,so thought it would be a good time to check the valve
setting.I have the starter out so I was rotating the fly wheel with a screw driver ccw looking from the back.I rotated it about 180 degrees and it stopped,so I started
turning it in the opposite direction and and it turned almost 360 degrees and stopped. It's not a hard stop there is a little give to it.It's a gear drive, could it be the
trans.or the TA? I last ran it about a year ago and it ran fine.I drained all the Hi-Tran out this summer, will buy new this spring.
Thanks for any reply.

Push and block the clutch pedal down. Don't force anything, but turn it again. If it still comes to a stop, There may be a piece of carbon on top of a piston or holding a valve open. There is very little room in the chamber. Look to find a valve with lots of clearance, it could be the one held open. A stuck valve would allow more than one revolution before stopping, but a piston hitting a stuck valve would stop it as described. Jim

Well you were right a piece of carbon 2" long and 3/32 thick was the culprit.I had to removed the head to find it.At this point I may remove the sleeves and install new o-rings.I here that can be done without pulling the motor.
Thanks for your help.
