W9 vs farmall m

Is the W-9 Farmall rear end and transmission heavier duty than a typical Farmall M rear end? Just curious. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
Yes. The engine and its torque were substantially more. they (to my knowledge) are not known for final drive failure. Jim
 
It is McCormick Deering, or just McCormick. Farmalls are row crop tractors that can have mounted cultivators in addition to pulling implements. The W series are made only to pull implements. About your question a W9 is significantly bigger than an M. The W6 and M have similar power, and have the same engines. The transmissions and rear ends are adjusted in according to the size of the rear tires.
