1066 Drawbar front pin stuck

Yep! put a sledge on the end of drawbar and gave it a few good licks. Crawled under there and tried to remove pin so I could shorten the drawbar. Wouldn't budge with prybar in the slot or big channel locks. This thing must be really rusted in there. I am desparate to get it out and thought about removing the entire bolter that the pin is in but need to know if removing it will loose all my rearend oil. Need you alls experience and knowledge here and any tricks other than a big fire wrench.

Just had a thought!
What if I welded a 3/4 in. nut on the end of that pin and used an impact to try to spin it to crack the rust.

Been awhile since I was under one of those tractors, but I think you should be able to unbolt any and all components of the drawbar system without losing any oil. Is it really rusted in that tight, or is something bent and twisted a bit?

Thanks!!!
I can't see where the pin is bent or twisted but could be. Everything else looks ok and drawbar will wiggle a little at the pin so not it.

I removed the 1/2 in. bolt and square plate that sets in the notch at bottom end of pin. Assumed this was all that was holding the pin in but maybe I missed a set screw. I'll go look.

Know anyone that has 50 acres of tillage of some sort that needs done?

Sounds like the thing hasn't worked in some time?

Allan

It is as simple as this. One 1/2 nut weld to pin,1 piece of 1/2 all thread 5in,,1 1.1/2 pipe 3-4 inch couple or three big washers. That will pull it.done'rr few times.
Them things get alot of dirt moisture in above the bracket. No use on drawbar they'll stick.

Allen is right. Light duty with 15' brushhog and the such. I'll incorporate your idea along with mine first on welding the nut, impact to crack loose and then the puller.
Thanks all!!!

Our pin is held in by a 3/8 capscrew & flat washer. You might try using a hammer & punch from the bottom to see if the pin is loose. Ours falls out when the capscrew & washer is removed.

I just had the same issue, welding a nut on the bottom and pulling with threaded rod did not work, pulled the nut right off the pin. I did take a chance and unbolted the carrier. It is just bolted on to the bottom of the housing, no oil loss. Taking the drawbar and bracket in to get the pin pressed out for future proper use.

Drop the front bracket off and press the pin out. Don't even try welding a nut and pulling it out, go to the final solution first, it's the easiest and cheapest.

This is why I posted my update, No one answered if the bracket could be unbolted without dropping the oil out of the rear end. I took a chance and slowly loosened the bolts, once I could see day light to the other side and I was not soaked in oil, i figured it was safe.
