I have been trying to fix the brakes on this 340 int back hoe. the right pedal was froze. finally got it to take some grease and can move the pedal some what freely but it seems to me the tight pedal is to close to the left pedal. when you push down on the left the right trys to go woth it. lock arm is out of the way. I have the cotter key out and the large washer from the left pedal but cant seem to get the left pedal arm to move outward any. I assume it should just slide out. I have the brake assembly off. is there something that would hold the arm in place I'm not seeing. thanks n norm

The one pedal is keyed to the shaft and the other pedal use's the shaft as a pivot point, is that what you are fighting a rusted key?

Your "somewhat free" isn't free enough. The right pedal should turn freely on the shaft turned by the left pedal. Finish cleaning up where the right pedal pivots on the shaft and make sure you have good pedal return springs then the problem will be fixed.

I have the pedal pretty well free now spring returns it back to the home position fine. ordered new pads for it. sandblasted the internals. some pitting on the metal pads but think they will be okay. just use this back hoe every once in awhile. thanks norm
