Super C water pump

This may be a question that answers itself, but I'm going to post in anyway. I'd really like some advice. The engine to my super C is in the machine shop for a complete rebuild. The water pump is original. It doesn't show any signs of leakage, and spinning it by hand does not produce any unusual noises. The bearing sounds and feels pretty smooth. At 60+ years should it be a no brainer to just replace the pump, or rebuild it? Is the original a better quality than what is available as a replacement? That's my concern. Thanks for your responses.

I had my original cast iron pump rebuilt by NAPA rather than use an aluminum one from China. On mine, the bearing was really growling. I don't think I'd rebuild one that shown so problems. Who knows how recently the previous owner of your tractor may have had new bearings and seals put in.

Drop it in a bucket of anti freeze and put it back on,same with the thermostat. They have a habit of drying out while they sit on the bench waiting to go back in.

I just rebuilt my Super C water pump with the kit sold on this web site. It is not a trivial job. You need a hydraulic press for one thing. It is tricky to install the seal to make sure it is tensioned correctly. Also, the new shaft was too long so when I had the impeller pressed on the shaft the specified distance it hit on the housing, so had to cut off flush with the impeller. Did get it all together and installed on the tractor and works fine. You also need a manual to know specs on impeller location and pulley location on the shaft. Bottom line, it is not a job for a novice mechanic.

Agreed do the rebuild of the original part. If you can take it to a shop that can.
