Farmall H frame rails and motor mounts

I just got a 1940 farmall H that the left side frame rail is broke and the motor is also broke. Are the frame rails interchangeable from side to side? If I used a frame rail from a newer H that has the steel mounts and use the steel mounts, will the newer mounts bolt ok to the engine?

I can not answer your question but I can say this. I have a 1940 Parts H plus 3 other H's that ran when parked. I'd sell one or all or parts for the parts H

The engines changed in late 50, I do not know if that is the only change.

Think you mean the engine mount and frame rail broke. Each frame rail is different. Newer frame rails and solid mounts will work. Probably can't find a good early engine mount. Bolt holes in frame for solid mounts are spaced different than the early frame rails. Bolt holes in engine block have the same spacing as solid mount rails.
