706 Drawbar

I recently purchase a Farmall 706 and it doesn't have a drawbar on it, only the fast hitch drawbar that is put into where the 3 point arms would go. My question is what is needed to install a drawbar on this tractor? I'm not sure if this had a drawbar on it at one point but I would imagine that it came with a factory drawbar. Could someone help me out and let me know what is needed to put a drawbar on this tractor. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Justin

A lot of the Fast hitch tractors did not have a drawbar, only the faSt hitch one. There are two brackets on the side of the rear end houseing. You remove the lift links from the rockshaft arms and secure them in the side brackets for rigid/solid drawbar use.To use/install a 'real' drawbar, you need the drawbar,a plate that fastenes under the rear support to hgold the drawbar, Then, under the belly, there is the front support. You may need the pin, too.

Well what you need to start with is the draw bar support and plate then you decide what draw bar , do you want a one piece or a two piece draw bar . If you have fast hitch then you already have the belly plate ya just need the pin , a 3.8th x 1 1/4 course thread bolt 1 3/8th lock washer one HEAVY oversized flat washer and your home free . And OH BTW your hitch can not be change to 3 point just by removing the fast hitch receivers as EVERYTHING has to be changed out . And pulling and using PTO run equipment whle using a fast hitch that is not pinned solid to the two brackets mounted on the upper side of the rear case. will end badly for the PTO shaft if the hitch rises as it will shear the PTO output shaft off faster then ya can blink.

Mostlikely he will needed to change the draw bar support as the ones that did not come from the factory with a draw bar used a sway support that was not drilled and tapped to take the bottom plate . and ya can't use one off a three point tractor as they are different .

i'll make one suggestion to modify Tractor Vet's list: instead of the heavy flat washer, i like a little square, rectangle, whatever scrap of flat stock you have with a 3/8" or maybe one drill size larger hole off centered. that way when you want to shift the draw bar front or back, you don't have to take the bolt out, just loosen, swivel your flat stock, and the pin drops out.
