Tractor Values

I'm trying to help a friend of mine find out what a couple of tractors that has are worth so he can advertise them for sale. These tractors are completely restored and are in beautiful condition. He has a 1937 International Farmall F12 on steel, a 1939 Farmall F14 on rubber and a 1939 Farmall H. Can anyone give me some advice as to where I might look? Thanks, John.

Look at publications and websites that deal in selling tractors. See what others are asking for the similar tractors.

If these tractors are truly restored showpieces, he might want to consider consigning them to one of the big Mecum tractor auctions to get the best price out of them.

Generally speaking the F-series are not in huge demand, and the H is just another H even if it's a 1939 model, unless it's serial number 501. They would have to be real gems to be worth more than $1500 each.

You can look at H's on ebay, but those are advertised wannabe prices. It might be you can look at Completed Sales listings for actual sold prices, I don't really know.

Actually a "restored" H at a well attended auction will bring a few dollars in NE Kansas - at long as the paint looks good, tires are good and its not blowing smoke getting $1900 - $2500 is not much of a stretch - but no where near what it costs to get it to that condition - especially if you had to tear into the engine.

But a sloppy paint job and marginal tires and it brings the same (less?) than it would have brought had it not been touched. "Unrestored" Hs and Ms in my area usually run $850 to $1500 - just depends on who wants them. Usable tires seem to make the biggest difference. You'll never get your money back on new tires but rotted tires that need to be replaced soon (along with rusted out rims) will drive the price of most old tractors right into the ground. Putting "serviceable" tires on that are down to 1/3 (but good) tread seems to help a lot.

Thank you for all of your replies. I will look at ebay and craigslist to get an idea. Thanks again.
