Access panel in h/m grille

(quoted from post at 15:50:09 10/21/16) Whats it for? Why was it removeable? Im talking about the small piece towards the bottom of tbe grille
ome of the cultivator units had steerable gangs and a bracket was mounted to the steering shaft behind the grill to the linkage on it.

As the guys mentioned it was for a particular model of cultivator. The removable piece you are seeing is an insert that is available to fill in the space if the steering part is removed.

I was going to throw mine away, til I fund how expensive / valuable they are. Best keep it, if you have one.

The reason most of them are missing is because the screw loosened up and it fell out, and was promptly ran over by the tractor front tires and then probably plowed under.

Well there is a key way in the 1943 M but not the 51 M, apparently they figured out they didn't need a keyway after a while .
