560 hyd pump tube

Has anyone gotten a new tube that connects to the hyd pump to the tractor housing. The reason I am ask this because the seal that is on the new tube has a metal housing instead of the old seal was basically all rubber. I tried to install the new tube into the housing and like any modern day seal it didn't slip right in, it needs to be press in. In the shop manual it states that the lip of the seal needs to face toward the pump. With this new seal design thinking I have to take the seal, hammer into the house with the seal lip facing the pump and install the tube on the pump. Then here is my concern, trying to get the tube into the seal without damaging the seal. Should I install the seal the other way?

I got a good used one last summer, tube was the right length but the seal was positioned wrong. I found the steel/rubber seal will slide on the tube if needed. I used two dowel bolts to guide the pump plate in place.

Been many years since I installed a new suction tube in one of those tractors. I see no reason the newest version would not be compatible with the system though. Normally the new tube would come with instructions on how to install but I believe they quit doing that.

What you do is measure the depth you need the seal to be on the tube when it is installed in the pump. Leave it a bit father from pump that full bottoming of the seal in the transmission housing. That way when you tighten pump down seal will be at maximum and proper positon. Then, have tube in pump and carefully align pump so tube enters housing. You can actually see the tube from the filter side if you want to look while installing.

The lip of seal MUST face the pump to seal out air and seal MUST fit snug in housing. The seal moves on tube easily. I just find a washer that fits tube snug and push seal to position you need it. Push from end opposite the lip of seal.

The reason they don't have seal at correct length for your tractor is that same tube is used on many different models with different lengths between pump and housing. The whole reason for using a new seal is that the old ones get hard and do not seal, thus the pump can suck in air.
