I've got a 560 diesel with the dealer installed turbo on it. Finishing up baleing hay over the weekend and the turbo started blowing oil. Guess I'm gonna need a rebuild or a new one. My question is what kind of turbo was installed on these tractors? I heard that the intake and turbo was the stock parts for a TD 9. Been working nights and dealing with my mom's health issues and haven't had time to pull the hood off and see what turbo is on it. I'm sure someone on this forum knows. Any help will get me a head start with the turbo man.

Thanks

Brandon

Take it a good diesel/turbo repair/rebuilding shop.Just tell em what tractor it is from. They will know what to do.You wont
need to tell em "what kind" the turbo is.

They are Air research turbos they were very hard to get parts for because I have two of them.Worst is they run the opposite direction as most turbos are and hard to adapt another turbo to the existing manifold and elbow. There might be a place in RED OAK IOWA Red Oak diesel talk to Stan they maybe can fix it.

Mine has the IH setup on it and if I recall correctly (without going outside and looking) it has a Garrett T606. I talked to a guy who rebuilds them and he essentially told me that if you need a simple rebuild (seals and bearings) you can get parts. If you need a housing, impeller or shaft you pretty much up sh*# creek. He told me a rebuilt core is around 2 grand. kinda dumb for me to put a 2 thousand dollar turbo on a tractor I gave 1500 for. With a little research I think a factory 5.9 cummins 12V turbo will fit by modifying the intake pipe some.
