Farmall M Head (8574 VS 8060)

Does anyone know if the 8574 head uses the same valves as the 8060? I'm wondering because I finally found one on for sale that I may be able to get for a decent price. I have the 8060 with all new valves (but as you all know is cracked beyond repair under one of the valve seats). I know the 8060 is the gas head, and that the 8574 is/was listed as a direct replacement. Just wondering if the valves are the same?

Any help is appreciated, as always!!! (And here is a photo just because).

Same Valves, depending on suffix a near match if the 8574 is one letter behind a 8060. 8574DC was latest head with that number for a 6 series engine.

Could you elaborate on the "6 series" engines.
My book talks of it but doesn't give much more information.

My parts book list the 8574DBX for gas and 8574DBY for LP gas.
It does not list the 8574DC.

My '41 M has the 8574DC head on it.
The engine has been rebuilt and they evidently put the newer head on it.

IH sometimes called 248, 264 and 281 engines 6 series. Last letter in parts list won't be on the head. Last letter represents what other parts are included with the head. 8574DA started in August of 1941 and DB started on M just before the super series. DC was after farm tractors were built with the head but still used on some industrial engines. If I remember correct DC came out in 55. Also if I remember correct the main change from D to DA was manifold mounting stud size. DB intake ports were slightly changed. DC had more material added in valve seat area.
Don't have any hard facts why two different head numbers for the same use. Just a guess because IH liked to have a backup source for parts is that a different place cast the 8060 and 8574 heads so if one place had a problem production wouldn't stop.

Don't know the answer. Looked to see what I could find and see they do show M and 6 series or 400, M and 6 series ETC.
Think I remember some places with engine parts that interchange they just say 6 series. But remember wrong or didn't notice proof with a quick look.
