Well, for once I wasn't looking for tractors this time and in a way they found me. Long story short a kid I kind of know through being a state officer in FFA messaged me since he saw
I had a F-12 and he mentioned he was going to look at a bunch of Farmall F-20s about an hour away in the same state we live in (CT). He ended up not being interested/going to look at
them so I messaged the owner for pictures and information. Come to find out he has 8 F-20s (4-5 more or less frames/parts tractors) and about two full truckloads of parts.
Went and saw the tractors the soonest I was free. He had 8 F-20s which were some complete tractors/some frames and two truckloads of parts. I end up making him an offer on the spot
for all the tractors and all the parts he had. Agreement was to take the 3 most complete and all the parts and I'm welcome to take more/all if I want. Anything I don't end up taking
goes to scrap.
Managed to pick up the first load on Tuesday and just got home from college to unload it today. Managed to fit on the F-20 factory wide-front, which has the high speed rear end and a
factory PTO extension. It was the only tractor he had running previously, and currently engine is loose and just needs new rod bearings as he stopped running it as soon as it started
knocking. Hope to get some good used ones off ebay and put them in since they don't seem to make new ones.
I still have to make at least 1-2 more loads to pick up a F-20 narrow front with a stuck engine, and a F-20 Duckbill with a partially disassembled engine, plus the rest of the extra
parts. Hoping to make the 2nd load and pick up at least the 2 most complete parts tractors since I should have enough parts to build 1 more after the duckbill is finished.
That will leave 2-3 tractors left. I'd like to take them but don't have room for so many, I'm lucky enough my mom is okay with me getting the first few. Unless I can find anyone
interested in the last few, which are mostly just frames and transmissions they'll probably go to scrap as much as I hate to say it. Going to try to save as many good parts as I can,
especially brake parts if that ends up happening.
Either way I'd say I got a pretty good deal and am pretty happy with it. Forgot to mention also included is a factory hydraulic pump and loader. These should keep me really busy for
a long time, and if anything breaks I'll probably have at least 2 extras to replace it
Attached are a bunch of pictures so enjoy. Also if anyone knows of someone who would be interested in/buys frames/parts tractors, please feel free to let me know. The less that has
to go to scrap the better.
