Okay, so my International Harvester B 275 PTO lever wouldn't engage the other day. It just slid back and forth without touching anything inside, but worked fine the last time I used it and it's been awesome all year.
I did some reading, and ended up taking the entire lever assembly with pin out after taking the left step out. The collar/spline thing on the inside seems fine. The pin, though, on the lever seemed a bit worn. So, this nice man only four hours away sold me a whole lever assembly (they even put it together for me), which I have now. Yes, the pin was worn down a bit on the old one compared to the new one, otherwise it was just like the old one (though the lever was longer on the new one making it easier for me to reach when seated, but all else lined up.)
Anyway, I don't remember now (Hey, I'm 53, a vet with PTSD, old farmer lady with 3 daughters, and I forget things) how it goes back in. Is it: Lever for PTO on towards front, off towards left rear wheel, and inside the case for the collar/spline is it On towards rear and Off towards engine? Or the other way around? Or both?
I got the manual from Farmall for it, but it doesn't say which goes which way!!! Yes, the little clip ring is in place, and like I said it looks all good in there (though honestly, I uh...have never looked in one of these before...I ended up using my phone to take movies with the flash on so I could see in there what's what and take pictures and such without taking the stupid tire and fender off, which I'll never do by myself). When I had one of my kids turn the shaft and I was watching the camera inside, it all looked good, bathed in lube halfway up the collar and worm gear thing, and nothing bent or funny.
I just Don't Remember which way what went!
Blessings, and TY in advance!
