SMTA sputter

Mowing 8 to 10 inch tall fescue with the SMTA pulling a LandPride 3590 finish mower. This is a pretty good workout for the old girl. After about 1 hour of mowing she began to sputter. I thought maybe it was the gas cap so I stopped and unscrewed the cap, it still sputtered. I started mowing again and quickly pulled the choke out and back in and she ran well for another couple of hours til I finished. How did I fix it? You carburetor experts will undoubtedly know. Thanks, Ellis

The float sit's and pivots on two little post, if the pivot pin has walked out to one side, the float is essentily , is going up and down a little cockeyed, where u on a side hill when it sputtered ?

I live in Northern Ky, The entire field I was mowing was one big hillside. Perhaps I should take a look at the float. I had the float fall out on another M, once. Someone must have been into the carbuerator previously because that choke rod was too short. A piece of 1/8 brazing rod was the perfect fix last time. That might be the problem, thanks for refreshing my memory. Ellis
